3-day Merzouga and Sahara tour
Ends in: Marrakech
Nearly every tour drives the same road over the Tizi n’Tichka pass to the same dunes. What changes is the camp class, the town of the first night, whether lunch is paid on top and whether the third evening ends in Marrakech or in Fes.

Read from each product page in October 2026. A cell that says the listing is silent means exactly that: ask the operator before you count on it.
Sorted by what usually decides the trip: where it ends, a warm tent in winter, the price of the standard camp, or a van just for you. Each reason comes from the listing itself.
The listing says its luxury tents are heated and its standard tents get blankets, for winter nights of 0 to 5 °C. Choose the shared luxury option for a warm tent.
Pick-up at your riad in Marrakech, drop-off in Fes. Standard tents share bathrooms, the deluxe tent has its own shower and toilet, and a 4x4 to the camp is free on request.
Booked as the standard camp option with a private tent, with a hotel for the first night and an air-conditioned minibus. Lunch is extra on all three days.
A private tour over four days with an English-speaking local guide, meals during the tour, bottled water and hotel pick-up in Marrakech.
Pick your route and what matters most, and we suggest a tour from the table.
Question 1 of 2
Question 2 of 2
No tour fits every answer, so here is the closest one.
Standard tent, luxury tent and a private premium tour on one listing. The luxury tents are heated, says the page, and the van has air conditioning and Wi-Fi.
Every guest party has its own tent, and the luxury tents are heated. The toilets are outside the tents, the showers in the lodge.
The luxury tents are heated, and the listing warns of winter lows around −3 °C. The first night is in a hotel in the Dades Gorges.
Option 2 adds three lunches to the standard camp, so there is no lunch to pay on the road. The luxury camp has a private bathroom with a hot shower.
First night in Tinghir, with a guided walk in the oasis and the Todra Gorge on day 2. The premium option includes a quad ride.
This site shows the standard camp option with your own tent. The listing also sells a luxury tent and a private three-day trip.
Ends in Fes, with an option that adds three lunches. The deluxe tent lists air conditioning or heating and a private bathroom.
Ends at your hotel in Fes, via the Ziz Valley and the Middle Atlas. Standard tents share bathrooms; the deluxe tent has its own shower and toilet.
Ends in Fes. Standard camp, deluxe tent and a private premium tour are separate options, so pick the tent when you book.
A second night in the Dades Valley, at a kasbah with a pool, splits the drive back. Groups are limited to 18.
Two nights in Merzouga, one in a tent and one in a desert lodge with a pool and private bathroom. On day 4 you choose Marrakech or Fes.
Private over four days with a local guide and meals during the tour. Day 3 returns via Rissani, Tazarine and Agdz instead of the same road.
Also a good fit
The route decides more than the operator: where the third day ends, how long you sit in the van, and how much time is left for the dunes.
Out and back on the same road. Your luggage stays in the van and you return to the riad you started from.
The third day heads north through the Ziz Valley, the Middle Atlas cedar forests and Ifrane instead of back over the High Atlas.
One extra night splits the long drive: Manzil Dades adds a second night in the Dades Valley, Ando Travel a lodge night in Merzouga.
Guests write most about their drivers and guides, the night in the luxury camp and the small groups on the road. One reviewer found that lunch on the road was not really optional.
“Activity was great, everything was as expected. The night in the luxury camp exceeded our expectations. Youseff Z was our driver and he was superb, felt very safe with him driving and very informative about the trip. Highly recommend!”
“Latif was an amazing guide and made the experience unforgettable. He was genuinely invested in ensuring the trip went smoothly and went above and beyond for us and our group. 100% recommend. Ask for Latif!”
“This desert tour is a must do! It is great value for money, and not only do u get to see the desert but many other attractions along the way, which make the drive enjoyable. Perfect for a solo traveller, as the bus is small so it’s easy to get to know people quickly. Moha Bouni was an incredible …”
“Ajbeli (Mohammed) was a great guide and driver. He went beyond when a piece of luggage was left behind. Very friendly and professional. The desert was the highlight of the trip. Wish I had an extra day. I went with the Luxury package. It was nice to have my own tent, private bathroom and …”
“It was a really beautiful experience and a trip full of unforgettable moments! A special thank you to Yassine, our driver, who was extremely kind, helpful, patient and attentive throughout the entire journey. He made the long drives much more enjoyable and always made us feel safe and …”
“I booked the normal option without lunch. Lunch didn't really seem optional. At lunchtime, we stopped in the middle of nowhere at restaurants that specialize in serving coach groups (very run-down). There was no opportunity to get away from the group having lunch and just have a cup of tea or …”

Read moreTwo-day tours from Marrakech mostly go to Zagora, not to Merzouga. Zagora lies in the Draa Valley, closer to Marrakech, and its dunes are lower and more scattered than the Erg Chebbi. Several Zagora listings still put “Sahara” in the title, so look for Merzouga or Erg Chebbi if the high dunes are what you came for. On the Zagora tours by Ando Travel and sahara for you, the standard camp has a shared bathroom and the luxury camp a private one.
The 3t Travel tour reaches Merzouga in two days, with pickup between five and six in the morning and up to ten hours on the road to the camp, says the listing. Stops at Ait Ben Haddou and the Todra Gorge cost extra on that tour. The full comparison is on our page Merzouga or Zagora.

Only one day to spare? Ait Ben Haddou and the stony Agafay desert near Marrakech are day trips, compared on our sister site Marrakech Escapes. Agafay has no sand dunes.
Each desert tour on this page is read against its own product page and option list: camp class, heating, lunch, first night and end point, including which option gives you the camp a title names. When you book through a link here, GetYourGuide or Viator pays us a commission from their margin; your tour price stays the same.
For most travellers, the three-day Merzouga and Sahara tour by MOROCCO TRIP, because one listing sells a standard tent, a luxury tent that the page says is heated, and a private premium tour. Three questions then narrow it down. Do you travel in winter? Then book a luxury tent on a listing that states heating. Do you continue north after the desert? Then a tour that ends in Fes, such as the one by MOROCCO TRIP, saves you the long drive back. Can you spare a fourth day? Then the drive home is split in two.
Most of a day in each direction. The first day ends in the Dades Valley, Kelaat M’Gouna or Tinghir, the second reaches the dunes before sunset, and the third day is almost entirely the drive back, with arrival in Marrakech in the evening. The road crosses the High Atlas on the winding Tizi n’Tichka pass, which some travellers find hard on the stomach.
On almost every listing, no. Breakfasts and dinners are included; lunch, drinks and tips are on the list of things not included, and you pay for lunch at restaurant stops along the road. Ando Travel is the exception with a separate option that adds three lunches, on its round trip and on its tour to Fes. Bring cash in dirhams.
Some listings say so in writing. MOROCCO TRIP on its round trip, Marrakesh Travel Services and MOROCCOFIRSTGATE give their standard tents blankets and no heating and heat their luxury tents. They warn of winter nights between 0 and 5 °C, Marrakesh Travel Services of lows around −3 °C. On its tour to Fes, Ando Travel lists heating in the deluxe tent. Marrakech City Life only promises warm blankets in winter, and the other listings do not mention heating. For a winter trip, ask the operator before you book.
No. Zagora tours are shorter and often carry “Sahara” in the title, but they sleep in the smaller dunes of the Draa Valley. The high sand dunes of Erg Chebbi are at Merzouga, further east. If the big dunes are the reason for your trip, check that the listing names Merzouga or Erg Chebbi.
Several listings offer a 4x4 transfer to the camp instead. MOROCCO TRIP includes it as an alternative on its round trip and offers it on request on its tour to Fes, Ando Travel offers it to luxury camp guests who ask a day ahead, and sahara for you charges extra for it. Ask before booking, because one reviewer of a Zagora tour was asked to pay for the alternative on the spot.
Yes. Several tours end in Fes on the third day, crossing the Ziz Valley, the Middle Atlas cedar forests and Ifrane instead of driving back over the High Atlas. For travellers who continue to Fes, Chefchaouen or Tangier this saves a full day on the road.
The listings do not mention any break. Ramadan 2027 is expected from February to early March 2027; the exact dates depend on the moon sighting. Ask the operator how lunch stops along the road work during the fasting hours.
Round trip, Fes or four days, with camp classes and lunch side by side.
